" You are the judge for a traffic offence court ase. Mark Presleigh, the defendant is being charged with driving at 120 km/h along the highway. As this is 60 km/h over the speed lmit the charge is dangerous driving. Mark agrees he was speeding, but that he was only doing 85 km/h. He claims the radar gun reading was incorrect.

The police who were involved in the chase give the following evidence. 'We were driving on the speed limit (60km/h) along the highway, when the car in question overtook us.

The radar registered the speed of the car at 121km/h. As the car passed us we accelerated in pursuit, taking 14 seconds to catch up to the speeding car.

Then, keeping at this speed, we were alongside of the car so we could pull him over. After being alongside for about 3seconds, he got the message and pulled over.

We then moved to park just in front of the defendant's car. The disance covered was approximately 600m.'

Luckily you studied physics, so you can determine wheter the police or Mark is correct. How do you sentence Mark? Does Mark have any grounds for appeal? "
